If I call, will I ever get an engaged tone?

Calls to the national helpline numbers go to the nearest branch of Samaritans across the UK and Republic of Ireland.  Most branches also have their own local number, so you can choose whichever suits you best to contact us. Find your local branch number

If the phone lines at any branch are busy, the call will be directly routed to other branches until a free line is found so that there is less likelihood of an engaged tone, regardless of whether the national number or the local number is used. However at our busy times you may occasionally get the engaged tone.
