Download Samaritans Suicide Statistics 2009

The individual countries within the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland release their
statistics at different times. Samaritans Research Team routinely collects this information throughout the year and produce the annual Suicide Statistics Document which collates information from all nations to give an overall picture of suicide rates within the UK and Republic of Ireland.

The latest statistics available in the current document are for deaths in 2009. Information and data for deaths in 2010 will be available in 2012. This document also aims to provide an explanation of how suicide statistics should be interpreted and used for a better understanding of this issue.

Please note that suicide data includes deaths from intentional self-harm and deaths of undetermined intent. Deaths of undetermined intent are not included within suicide data for the Republic of Ireland.
